LIMINALITY AND UNITY

Where ever you may go, where ever you may be, where you're from... no matter what the goal, we all share a sense of unity when it comes down to passion, love and hope. This may appear to be an awkward thing to blog about - but my blog is also about culture and not only fashion. Now some may say I'm putting it over the top, but let's face it: especially when you're from, or live in Dortmund and it comes to soccer, you're just bound to get caught up in the hype around the "Borussia BVB".
It truely is exceptional.
It's more, it's not about the game, it's about the culture surrounding it and about the culture it helped shape. Today was the big day - the "Meisterfeier 2011" and literally hundreds of thousands of people were downtown, celebrating, tyring to seize the moment. It was like a smile was being put on your face instantly. No fuss, no anger, all the negative feelings just simply subsided and made way for a feeling of unity. A black and yellow unity, setting aside social differences, ethnicities, religion, culture, etc... a status of liminality and embracing joy. But it wasn't for the soccer alone. It was more - there's this "dull saying: "What goes around, comes around."... we all reflect on how others appear to us. All I could see today was: happiness and hilarity. Not a trace of anger and THAT is exactly what I hope to find so dearly in our society and it starts with us - step by step.
I wish words and photographies could express what it was like to be a part of this event. What it was like to stand, side by side, feeling the euphoria... but all I can do is ask you to start your own unity - based on the lowest common denominater: love.

Wo immer to hin willst, wo immer du sein magst, wo du her kommst... egal was das Ziel ist, wir alle teilen ein Gefühl der Einigkeit, wenn es um Leidenschaft, Liebe und Hoffnung geht. Dies mag eine eigenartige Sache sein, über die ich hier blogge, aber in meinem Blog geht es auch um Kultur und nicht ausschließlich Mode. Manche mögen jetzt denken, dass ich etwas übertreibe, aber seien wir mal ehrlich: insbesondere wenn man aus Dortmund kommt, oder in Dortmund lebt, man ist einfach vorbestimmt in den Hype um den "Borussia BVB"zu geraten.
Es ist wirklich außerordentlich.
Es ist mehr, es geht nicht um das Spiel, es geht um das kulturelle Umfeld und die Kultur die der Verein mitgeformt und geprägt hat im Laufe der Jahre. Heute war die große Meisterfeier 2011 und es waren buchstäblich hunderttausende Menschen in den Straßen ,die feierten und versuchten den Moment fest zuhalten. Kein Zank, keine Wut, alle negativen Gefühlen waren einfach verschwunden und schufen Platz für ein Neues: das, der Einigkeit. Eine schwarz- gelbe Eingkeit, die alle sozialen Differenzen, Ethnien, Religionen, Kulturen, etc... überwindet und beiseite lässt. Ein Zustand der Liminalität und allumfassenden Freude. Dennoch, hat der Fussball alleine nicht zu diesem Zustand geführt. Es ist mehr - es gibt eine "stumpfe" Redewendung: "So, wie man in den Wald hineinruft, so schallt es auch wieder heraus."... wir reflektieren wie andere auf uns wirken. Alles was ich heute sehen konnte, war Freude und Ausgelassenheit. Nicht die geringste Spur von Wut und genau DAS ist es, was ich mir erhoffe in der Gesellschaft zu sehen und es beginnt mit uns - Schritt für Schritt.
Ich wünschte, Worte und Fotografien könnten ausdrücken, wie es war ein Teil dieses Events zu sein. Wie es war, Seite and Seite zu stehen, die Euphorie zu spüren... aber alles was ich tuen kann, ist eucht bitten eure eigene Einigkeit entstehen zu lassen, basierend auf unserem kleinsten gemeinsamen Nenner: Liebe.
